GirlGaze is a series of short film vignettes or visual poems exploring women on film.
I wanted to explore the theory of the Male Gaze by depicting a woman as she really is and telling a very simple story about a moment in her life.
Additionally I wanted to explore the audiences relationship with women on film by employing the added dimension of breaking the fourth wall. In doing this our woman engages with the audience - and whoever is behind the camera. Is it a man or a woman? Thus making an audience inadvertently become aware of, and question, the Male Gaze.
